AIC REGULAR MEMBERS' NEWS

Argentina - Grupo Argentino del Color

Activities carried out during 2023

A series of meetings are being held with colour associations and colour groups from various Latin American countries. The aims are to foster ties between the different groups and publicise the work and research on colour science, education, art and design. So far, three meetings have been carried out. In the last one, Anna Rezende (Brazil), Georgina Ortiz (Mexico), José Luis Caivano (Argentina), and Alfonso Claros (Bolivia) spoke about their main interests and exhibited their recent lines of colour research. Before that, on September 1, Elisa Cordero (Chile), Andrea Suárez (Uruguay), and Carlos Mario Rodríguez (Colombia) spoke about their work. The meetings will continue to be held on the first Friday of every month.

Additionally, the Grupo Argentino del Color sponsored an activity organised by the Color Institute of the School of Architecture, Urbanism, and Design, at the National University of Cordoba, with the participation of more than 180 students, in coordination with the Morphology 3 Chair and EdifiCor, a media company. The workshop, held last May 2023, consisted of the analysis and interpretation of the environmental colour of an urban sector, its chromatic arrangement, syntax, and inferences about the possible factors or reasons for its origins. The intervention and chromatic construction were possible thanks to materials provided by EdifiCor, such as Venetian tiles, ceramics, and porcelain tiles. The students’ works were exhibited in the Cabildo (old Town Hall) of Córdoba 450 years after its foundation.
